Netherlands Lyric Opera Festival

Lochlan Brown is the founder, Artistic Director, and Chief Conductor of the Netherlands Lyric Opera Festival, based in Maastricht. He created the festival out of a desire to build a training environment that truly reflects the realities of today’s opera world. Drawing on his experience as a conductor, répétiteur, and vocal coach working closely with singers at every career stage, the festival bridges the gap between education and professional life. It offers emerging artists fully staged performances with professional orchestra, tailored repertoire, intensive coaching, masterclasses, and career-focused workshops, all within the context of a working opera house. At its core, the festival prioritizes individual artistic development, transparency, and meaningful professional exposure, encouraging singers to grow with confidence, curiosity, and a strong sense of their own artistic voice.
